Exercise and Sports Sciences


Department's Mission

The fundamental mission of the Exercise and Sports Sciences Program is to graduate sports trainers or managers who have mastered the basics of fitness and recreation, the interaction between health and sports, the psychological and social aspect of sports as well as the scientific basis for sports and physical activity. The program also aims to bring up qualified sports professionals who will achieve scientific and sports-related success at the national and international level with the help of their professional and moral ethics, research and communication skills.

Departmental Facilities

Students of the Exercise and Sports Sciences Program benefit from laboratories equipped with modern equipment at world standards. Each laboratory has been designed to provide opportunities for approximately 50 students to receive instruction at the same time. Our University provides sufficient number of computers with Internet connections for students. Students are also given the privilege of benefitting from the Eastern Mediterranean University Library which is equipped with modern facilities, equipment and databases. Our University also provides an array of recreational opportunities for our students in the form of social, cultural and sports activities.

Distinguishing Attributes

Execise and Sports Sciences program was established completely with it's contemporary technological facilities and democratic learning environment. Our department has cooperation with numerous academic personnel from national and international institutions and students are educated by those professional academicians. Sports Sciences program aims to introduce analysis, problem solving, reasoning, educing, creative and critical thinking, cooperative working, communicating by combining them to professional knowledge. Our distinguishing attributes are having a sports hall with high quality standards, recreation areas, swimming pools, beach club and clubs that provide great training opportunities for our students.

Quality of Graduates

Students of the Execise and Sports Sciences Program benefit from laboratories equipped with modern equipment at world standards. Each laboratory has been designed to provide opportunities for approximately 50 students to receive instruction at the same time. The program aims to bring up inquisitive, modern, and supportive sports professionals who are well-equipped with information regarding various sports branches as well as various aspects of sports such as biology, health sciences, behavioral sciences, educational sciences, management and organization.

Career Opportunities

Graduates of the program may pursue employment opportunities as "Sports Experts, Sports Trainers, Sports Managers and Sports Animators". Following is a list of career areas for our graduates:

  • Recreational manager or organiser in touristic facilities in the tourism sector.
  • Fitness experts or leaders in private fitness centers.
  • Activity coordinator and manager in fitness centers.
