Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Health Sciences Faculty, Nutrition and Dietetics Department Turkish medium program underwent evaluation process of Health Sciences Education Programs Accreditation Board (SABAK). Operating as an independent association, SABAK provides accreditation for health sciences education programs in different disciplines through conducting assessment and awareness-raising activities that contribute to the improvement of the quality of education in the health sciences field in Turkey.
Visiting the EMU for accreditation evaluation process, SABAK conducted its evaluation according to quality assurance system and education, research-development and administrative processes. The evaluation process included inspection of university, faculty and department infrastructure facilities. Moreover, Nutrition and Dietetics Education program and program outcomes, students’ satisfaction regarding participating in decision making processes, quality assurance system, educational services and student support services were evaluated alongside with the competence of the academic staff members and relations with senior management members. Evaluations were also carried out by the committee in terms of the structure of the University administration, the support provided to the department, financial resources, continuous renewal and development, and discipline-specific criteria.
A Visit to Prof. Dr. Aykut Hocanın
Within the scope of the evaluation process, SABAK committee paid a courtesy visit to EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Aykut Hocanın. Rector Prof. Dr. Hocanın provided information regarding EMU to the committee during the visit. On the other hand, the committee presented the evaluation report to the Rector. At the end of the visit, Prof. Dr. Hocanın presented traditional Cypriot Lefkara work souvenirs to the committee.
