The primary aim of the Anesthesia Associate Degree Program is to bring up qualified health professionals supporting the surgeons during operations. The program takes pride in being the first anesthesia program in the TRNC and is important in catering for the demand for qualified anesthesia technicians both in TRNC and Turkey. Rapid developments in medical technology influence medical practices in anesthesia. Along with these developments, demand for intermediate workforce in the field of anesthesia is progressively increasing both in the TRNC and the Republic of Turkey.

Vision

The Anesthesia Associate Degree Program strives to deliver education in line with the developments in science and technology and in accordance with international, professional and ethical standards. The program’s primary aim is to graduate qualified professionals who will cater for the demand for anesthesia technicians both in the TRNC and the Republic of Turkey.

Mission

The mission of the program is to graduate productive, inquisitive and modern health technicians with cultural awareness and effective communication skills, fulfilling their responsibilities towards community by efficiently adapting themselves to changing conditions, working effectively in teams both within our country and region and benefitting from science and technology.

General Information

Graduates of the Anesthesia Associate Degree Program are all qualified, modern professionals who possess in-depth knowledge on anatomy, physiology, pharmacology special treatment methods and anesthesiology.

Education

The program carries utmost importance both in the TRNC and the Republic of Turkey since it caters for the demand for qualified anesthesia technicians both in the TRNC and the Republic of Turkey. Prominent academicians from the universities in the Republic of Turkey have agreed to contribute to the program both by providing consultancy and actively delivering courses.

Career Opportunities

Program graduates may pursue employment opportunities at surgery departments of the state and private hospitals as well as polyclinics.

Therminology of Anesthesiology, the definition and history of anesthesia, the description and working principles of the operating room, the description and presentation of the recovery room, teamwork in the operating room, the ethical and legal rules, the introduction of anesthesia machines and anesthesia circuits, the protection of anesthesia machines, premedication and the importance of record keeping in anesthesia.

FZTR151 Introduction to Anatomy
Bu ders; öğrencilerin, insan anatomisini ve fizyolojisini, vücut sistemlerini ve fonksiyonlarını öğrenmesini amaçlamaktır. Dersin kapsamında; kemikler, eklemler, kaslar, sistemler, organizmanın bölümleri (hücre-doku-organ-sistem), görevleri ve bu bölümler arasındaki iletişim incelenmektedir.

ENGL161 Basic English - I
ENGL161 is the first semester, first year English language course offered to all students studying in a 2-year Turkish Medium Program at the university. It is designed to help students improve the level of their English to halfway towards A1 level, as specified in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. This course introduces the students to the English language and aims to develop listening, speaking, reading and writing skills.

The course presents the basic description of information technology concepts, basic computer system hardware and software components, common terminology in information technology, application areas, and integration of computer system components. Issues of preoperative evaluation, preoperative assessment of fluid and electrolyte balance, Premedication, Monitorization, Intubation, Extubation, Position and complications, Recovery room, approach to postoperative pain, Anesthesia and drugs (Dopamine-Dobutrex), Anesthesia and drugs (Nitroglycerin-Niprus) , Anesthesia and Medications (Digital), Anesthesia and Drugs (H2 receptors-Antiemetics), Anesthesia and Drugs (Esmolol-Propranolol).

ANES104 Anesthesia Technical Special Care and Treatment
This course involves the issues of possible malfunctions with anesthesia machines and systems, maintenance and repair of equipments used in anesthesia, sterilization, liquids and their preparation, maintenance of monitors and catheters in the operating room and maintenance and repair of anesthesia circuits.

Introduction to pharmacology, drug administration routes, pharmaceutical forms, drug pharmacokinetics, passage of drugs from membranes, pharmacokinetic of drugs (absorption, distribution), pharmacokinetic of drugs (metabolism and excretion), factors that altering the effects of drugs, drug interactions, the toxic effects of drugs, drug allergies, drug action mechanisms, concepts related with pharmacodynamics, treatment of fluid-electrolyte and acid-base disorders, oxygen treatment, preanaesthetic medication, introduction to general anesthetics, the pharmacokinetics of inhalation and intravenous anesthetics.

Description and composition of infection, asepsis, antisepsis, definition of sterilization, types of sterilization, definition of disinfection, disinfection types, hand-washing practices of health personnel, wearing gloves-shirt, overview and organization of the hospital check services, infection control committees, definition of Isolation , category-specific isolation practices, frequent hospital infections, intensive care infections, blood-borne infectious diseases and precautions for protection, correct disposal of medical waste and making them harmless, wrong practices and recommendations in infection control, whether hospital-patient syndrome is a hospital infection or not.
