Published Date: Monday, 1 June 2015

Cyprus Green Action Group activists Eliz Arter, Seda Hançer and Tuğberk Kaya delivered a seminar on "Can Kid Project' at Eastern Mediterranean University, Health Sciences Faculty.

'Can Kid' is a social responsibility project aiming to raise public awareness regarding the environment and recycling. Carried out by a group of volunteers, the project is based on the idea that the solid waste problem may be solved through selective collection and recycling processes

Funds to be raised through the "Can Kid" project will be spent for the benefit of the state hospitals' "Pediatric Departments".  Green Action Group activist Eliz Arter stated that through the recycling of tin cans, natural resources will be protected and the amount of waste and visual pollution will be minimised. Putting forth that the project will be both supporting the nature and the kids, Arter added that can houses where tin cans are stored have been set up in various places of the TRNC. Arter also stated that one of these houses has also been set up and launched on EMU Campus during 21st Spring Festival.

Tuğberk Kaya talked about a series of actions implemented to raise awareness regarding the project and added that it is only through support and help that the project will grow bigger. Seda Hançer, another activist taking part in the project, added that the prospective funds to be raised through the project may be spent on other causes.
