EMU Academic Personnel Receive Publication Achievement Plaques and Research Incentive Awards

The Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) held an award ceremony for academic personnel who earned the right to receive Publication Achievement Plaques and Research Incentive Awards. The said ceremony commenced at 15:30, on Wednesday, the 4th of December 2019 at the EMU Senate Meeting Room. A total of 40 academic personnel received their awards at the ceremony which was attended by EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Necdet Osam and the Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Halit Tanju Besler, Prof. Dr. Naciye Doratlı and Prof. Dr. Sonuç Zorlu Oğurlu

Every May, The Research Support Office examines the Web of Science publications of academic personnel throughout the previous year. Publication Achievement Plaques are presented to researchers from every faculty or school with the highest Web of Science (SCI, SCI-Expanded, AHCI, SSCI) publication points.

The Research Incentive Awards are delivered to instructors who have proven their competence based on their scientific research, work and events by which they have contributed to science and art as decided according to the Research Incentive Principles prepared by the Research Advisory Board. Every year, candidates can apply by the end of April if they have fulfilled a minimum of three different activities that fit the criteria. Applications are evaluated by the Research Advisory Board who decide upon those who earn the right to receive the award.

In the opening speech of the ceremony, EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Necdet Osam started by touching upon the Engineering Faculty’s important achievement in Estonia and congratulated the whole team for their success. Relaying that their dream of 4-5 years ago has become a reality Prof. Dr. Osam stated: “New achievements always make us happy, happiness increases when it is shared”

Underlining that the Times Higher Education (THE) way of thinking has been adopted by everyone a long-time ago Prof. Dr. Osam noted that the university’s THE success and the Business and Economıcs and Tourism Faculty’s achievements on the Shanghai List are indicative of the university moving in an even better direction.

Highlighting that loving what you do, feeling a sense of responsibility towards your institution and recognizing and supporting good work are all important for success and development, Prof. Dr. Osam expressed his belief that the university’s achievements will continue to increase: “You have played a big part in EMU being where it is today. We are trying to bring our university to a place where we can reach all of our goals. I ask you, our valuable scientist to continue on your path with great desire. Let us absorb scientific norms without political stances. Universities are here to serve the public. I wholeheartedly congratulate you all and wish the continuation of your success.”

The ceremony came to an end after Rector Prof. Dr. Osam and the Vice Rectors delivered the awards and took a group photo with the academic personnel.
