Students with Down Syndrome at EMU Health Sciences Faculty

Eastern Mediterranean University Health Sciences Faculty hosted a group of disabled students and students with Down Syndrome from Famagusta İrfan Nadir Rehabilitation Center on 25 March 2014. Health Sciences Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Hülya Harutoğlu stated that the event was organised to mark and raise awareness about 21 March World Down Syndrome Day.

During this meaningful organisation, about 35 students with Down Syndrome and various disabilities accompanied by their teachers received information on healthy food and lifestyle through a cinevision show at EMU Green Hall. At the end of the session, guest students wore  gowns and caps and were presented with certificates. Following the certificate presentation, a group of students from EMU Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Department entertained the guest students with a mini guitar concert.

Following the activity at EMU Green Hall, students were taken to EMU Center for Healthy Living and attended a workshop on healthy food and ideal cooking methods. During the workshop, some students cooked mini-meals on their own. At the end of this meaningful event, guest students left the university with happy memories.
