Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU), Health Sciences Faculty, Exercise and Sports Sciences Department academic staff member and Deputy Chairperson of the Cyprus Turkish Sports Writers Association (KTSYD) Ahmet Özyaşar presented EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Kılıç with a book titled “Zoraki Evlilik” (Forced Marriage) which discusses the relation between sports and politics in the Turkish Cypriot community.
During his visit on Tuesday, 23 July 2024, Özyaşar presented the said book to Prof. Dr. Kılıç, provided more information regarding the book and explained its content that covers the relationship between sports and politics on the island from the Ottoman Period up to this day. Talking about the research and interviews conducted during the writing process of the book, Özyaşar noted that the book is an outcome of collected stories.
Expressing his contentment on the book publication of Özyaşar who is an EMU alumni member and also an academic staff member at EMU, EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Kılıç obtained detailed information about the book and wished Özyaşar success in his future endeavours.
Stating that he is elated with the attention his book has been receiving, Özyaşar said that book introduction and autograph sessions will be held; at Cyprus Turkish Sports Writers Association building on Monday, 5 August, 2024 and, at Famagusta Walled City Bandabuliya on Tuesday, 13 August, 2024.
