Dean of EMU Health Sciences Faculty Prof. Dr. Mehtap Malkoç Attends SABDEK

6th Health Sciences Faculties’ Deans Council Meeting (SABDEK) was hosted by Eskişehir Anadolu University between 21 and 22 April 2017. Along with 55 deans from Turkey and the TRNC, training coordinators of the National Core also participated in the meeting. Eastern Mediterranean University was represented at the said meeting which attracted a total of 82 participants by the Dean of Health Sciences Faculty Prof. Dr. Mehtap Malkoç, who is a also member of SABDEK Executive Board.

Following the opening addresses of the meeting, a workshop titled “Vocational Applications in Health Sciences” was held. During the said workshop, problems were discussed and recommendations for solutions were put forward. A report featuring the outcomes of the workshop was presented on 22 April 2017 with the participation of the Acting President of YÖK Prof. Dr. Safa Kapıcıoğlu, Afyon Kocatepe University Rector and Medicine Health Scineces Education Council Chair Prof. Dr. Mustafa Solak, and Anadolu University Rector Prof. Dr. Naci Gündoğan.

Following the presentation of the report, Acting President of YÖK Prof. Dr. Safa Kapıcıoğlu delivered a speech during which he touched upon the importance of SABDEK’s important role in the prevention of the uncontrollable and rapid growth of the field of health sciences. Prof. Dr. Safa Kapıcıoğlu also stated that despite the fact that the Council was established recently, it has achieved a lot in a short span of time. Prof. Dr. Safa Kapıcıoğlu added that Core Education programs of ”Nutrition and Dietetics”, “Midwifery”, and ”Audiology” departments have been approved by YÖK. Prof. Dr. Kapıcıoğlu concluded his speech by stating that they will provide relevant support regarding the elimination of problems encountered in application practices caused by the regulations in the field of health sciences.
